Do not to light bonfires

The District Commander of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service has warned of the extreme risk of fires in this ongoing hot dry weather and urged residents not to light bonfires in any circumstances.

The current breezy conditions mean that fires are spreading rapidly and the local fire service is experiencing a high volume of calls.

Thatched properties are particularly at risk should a fire get out of control or take hold in any of the dry fields surrounding it.

PLEASE be alert, and considerate of neighbours, and remember it takes only one carelessly discarded cigarette to cause a fire.
